The week-long vocal festival held May 2013 is widely regarded as one of the world's most prestigious, inspiring visitors from across Europe, as well as a growing number of fans from other continents.
Jens Johansen (Aarhus University and Kor72), Head of Festival and Chairman of the board founded the festival in May 2006 with performances from his rhythmic choir, Vocal Line as well as from Rajaton and The Real Group. The festival occurs once every two years, and in 2011 featured performances from many artists, including Postyr, Basix and Bobby McFerrin.
Minkoff, an expert in a cappella music, holds a bachelors in Music Education from Northwestern University, a juris doctorate from Boston University School of Law and has lectured at over 20 vocal festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including The Real Group Festival in Sweden. He also performs internationally with Blue Jupiter, an award-winning professional a cappella quartet.
"Festivals like AAVF are so exciting! Exchanging ideas in such a supportive environment just supercharges everyone's creativity. To learn from our European friends and to share American approaches is an absolute thrill, and I'm very honored to be a part of the AAVF family," Minkoff said.
